The Build Process

From your first consultation to the moment we hand you the keys, our process is designed to be transparent, organized, and enjoyable.

Step 1 — Lot Feasibility. Whether you already own land in Loudoun County, are evaluating acreage in western Loudoun, or need help finding the right lot in an established community, we’ll start by evaluating the site’s possibilities and any limitations. Our team is familiar with Loudoun County’s zoning districts, well and septic considerations for rural parcels, and the permitting requirements that vary across the county.

Step 2 — Phase I Design. Select from one of our floor plans and customize according to your budget, guided by our three custom home lines: Classic, Signature, and Legacy.

Step 3 — Phase II Design. Finalize your selections with our interior designer and get a clear picture of final pricing for your home.

Step 4 — Permits. Once your architectural plan and grading plan are complete, we submit for permits.

Step 5 — Construction. During the build, your dedicated Project Manager will schedule framing and drywall walkthroughs to keep you informed and involved throughout the process.

Step 6 — Closing. Before we hand the home to you, we’ll do a final walkthrough and discuss the warranty plans included with every Character house.

The typical timeline from initial design consultation to completion runs between 12 and 24 months, depending on the scope and complexity of your project.
